Transport Focus
Overview
We have been streaming Transport Focus Board Meetings since 2020, initially producing them virtually before moving to production on-location post-pandemic.
Each meeting consists of guest speakers – often including Ministers and MPs, industry leaders or public/government bodies – plus slides, panels, open forums and public Q&As. Venues are rotated around the country to ensure all regions of the UK can come to the meetings to raise their concerns. Accessibility is a key feature, with captions, live translations and BSL interpreters often a requirement.

Challenges
Board meetings are often tricky to get right in a live virtual environment due to 20+ speakers and sections of open floor where anyone can chip in. Transport Focus were keen to maintain visually high standards, ensuring the public had a positive viewing experience, as well as make the content as discoverable as possible through public social channels such as Twitter. At the same time, a requirement to collect registrations and viewer information was important to them.
On top of this, every meeting comes with slightly different requirements such as Welsh translations, BSL Interpreters, live captions or remote speakers.
Outcomes
Over the last 3 years, we’ve been able to take the format from virtual to physical, keeping the same brand continuity, and helping the Transport Focus Team to deliver informative and accessible board meetings in public.
Streaming to our bespoke embeddable player, we have been able to collect email addresses of those watching, plus sending to Twitter and Linked In allows for maximum coverage, with each meeting getting 100’s of views.
