A webcast is when specific content is produced and streamed on the web in real-time to create a show much like a live TV broadcast.

The name ‘webcast’ comes from broadcasting on the web.

When it comes to streaming, the opportunities are endless.

From lectures or seminars, to speeches & announcements. From conferences & training to meetings & debates. From exhibitions & demonstrations, to tournaments or competitions. From awards, launches & performances to sports, music or festivals.

These are just some of the events that can benefit from live streaming!

There is often a lot of confusion between webcasting and webinars.

Webinars are usually produced by in-built video conference software within a platform, such as Zoom, Teams or Webex. Most users will join by webcam and be in control of their own feeds. Since the pandemic, customisation and integration options for webinars have developed considerably. It is also possible to stream your webinar feed to platforms such as YouTube or Facebook directly too.

On the other hand, webcasts are productions which involve a show that is filmed either on-location or remotely, and require some form of professional hardware and software to vision mix and stream out online.

You’ll be familiar with the term ‘streaming’ as the process of getting content online, whether it be catch up TV, YouTube videos or music.

Live streaming simply means that the content you’re watching is being streamed as it happens, such as sport, social media videos or TV.

Live streaming is the process that we use to broadcast your event live to the web, through a choice of platforms that offer live streaming capabilities.

Whether your content is available on-demand automatically after the stream depends on your chosen streaming platform. However, we record all streams as standard so will provide you with an HD recording post-event for your records, which you upload or do whatever you wish with.

Making your content available on-demand is a great way to attract traffic and engagement, giving your video content a head start for comments, likes and even SEO ranking.

We can even turn your stream footage into additional content such as promo videos, social clips or highlight reels for you to use elsewhere. This is great way to get even more value for money from your live content.

Prior to your stream, your events coordinator will do all due diligence to check your internet connections. If we think there may be a problem, we’ll advise you in advance.

On the day, our crew have lots of tricks up their sleeves, back up solutions and workarounds to help make the best of even the worse connections.

However, in the unlikely event the internet to fails completely, we will be recording a back-up in full 1080p HD so none of your content is lost.

The nature of live content of course means that things can go wrong on stage or people may slip up.

In most instances, there is at least a few seconds delay between real-time and online viewers viewing the content, which means we’re able to switch away to a different angle and / or cut sound should this be necessary.

In extreme circumstances, we’re able to pull the stream at any time.

If you have concerns about this for your particular event, it’s best to let us know prior so we can put solutions in place to help mitigate these circumstances.
