Overview
In 2021, at the height of Covid-19 restrictions, Hologic approached us to help them broadcast a personal address from the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Social Care, Lord Bethell. The Minister for Health was to thank the staff at Hologic and mark the opening of a Covid-19 test facility delivered by the company. He joined remotely from his office in London.
The event was broadcast to a custom microsite we built for Hologic to showcase the celebration, including a live player and Q&A functionality for the staff watching at home.
Challenges
With the country only just opening up, and strict social distancing and work rules in place, many businesses were facing the challenges of how to host safe events. We worked with Hologic to plan a covid-19 appropriate broadcast, including a socially distanced audience and crew with individual mics to avoid any cross-use.
The Minister himself dialled into our production remotely, where we were able to display him on-screen seamlessly to deliver his speech and take questions from the audience.
Outcomes
This was one of the first physical events we ran during the pandemic, so it was a learning curve for the client, audience and Minister. We were able to lend our live streaming and production experience to deliver a seamless live stream with a remote guest, without compromising on the visual quality or presentation of the occasion.
A press release was put out about the event, getting nationwide coverage in business publications online.
